Miranda v. Arizona

A kidnapping was carried out by Ernesto Miranda in 1963. He was identified as the criminal and promptly taken into an interrogation by police. No one informed Miranda of his rights prior to his questioning. He wrote a signed confession stating the nature of his crimes and stating that he knew and understood his rights, and voluntarily waived them. Miranda was denied counsel and was sentenced to 20 years. Some argued he shouldn't have been sentenced because he wasn't informed of his rights. I think the crime is serious enough that the written and signed confession should have been accepted. He did state he understood his rights. The verdict was a little unconstitutional though.

My Favorite President Biography

Every president leaves a legend of his own, and few are quite as intersting than Richard Nixon's time in office. Richard Nixon was a Republican congressman who served as vice president under Dwight D. Eisenhower. Nixon began his time as president in 1968. He resigned on his own in 1974 after his office was caught up in the infamous watergate scandal. Nixon died in 1994 at age 81. Nixon was born in 1913 in California and was the second of five children his parents birthed. Nixon's early life was generally described as hard, as two of his brothers died from sickness early on. In 1940 Nixon married Thelma Ryan. The couple ended up having two daughters. In 1946 Nixon was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. During his first term, Richard Nixon was assigned to the Select Committee on Foreign Aid. Throughout Nixon's early political life he established himself as a passionate anti-communist. Nixon ran for vice-president during Dwight Eisenhower's presidency and some believed he was provided a slush fund. Already Nixon was rumored to be criminal in his practices. Nixon ran against John F Kennedy in the 60's in a very politically historic election. Nixon ultimately lost the election and returned to his family in California. Nixon was eventually sworn in as the 37th president of the United States on January 20, 1969. Nixon's presidency is stained yet even today as he was involved in one of the biggest political scandals ever. The Watergate complex in D.C. was robbed of information to which Nixon deied any involvement. After extensive investigatons it was found Nixon had been directly involved in an attempt to sabatage the Democratic party. A full cover-up had been linked to the white house, however Nixon always denied involvement. Impeachment was opened to Nixon so he resigned in 1974. In 1994 Nixon died of stroke.

Prisoners should not be allowed to vote they have committed a crime and lost their right. After a prisoner has been released after a time they should earn their right to vote again but it should not be banned or just handed back immediately.

I believe that prayer held prior to meetings should be allowed. If the constitution gives individual rights then I believe a persons choice of religion is included in that.

I don't agree with k-mart's decisons. No one cares about the family values of holidays anymore. Most stores are open on holidays, and back in the day mostly every store was closed on major holidays because of time being spent with family and friends. Modern day employees are more concerned about making money.
